April Fools' Day has long been my favorite of the second string holidays. This year, to celebrate, we have concocted a promotion that is designed to provide quality alpacas at bargain prices to our friends and customers, and also to help us resolve a little dilemma. Agisting our herd as we cleared land and built up our infrastructure was part of our original business plan. We intended for our herd to grow at a measured pace as we made steady progress. The plan worked really, until life threw us a trio of April Fool like "gotcha's:" a serious accident in the family that set our priorities straight real fast, but slowed down our building plans; drought conditions from late spring to late fall '07 which just wouldn't let the new pastures grow well; and (wouldn't you know it!) the continual downpours, saturated ground and standing water this spring that make putting in fence posts and proceeding with pastures impossible.
Our alpacas, alas, did not get the news of our plan revisions. Instead, they moved right ahead as planned, doubling in number! (I have to admit to sneaking in a couple more "too good to pass up" purchases as well...) Though we can manage with this number of animals on the 7 pasture areas we have now, using gravel paddocks some and supplementing hay, our plan never called for managing, it called for excellence in animal nutrition and husbandry. That can be done in several ways, but the most logical way to manage now is to sell a signiicant number of alpacas--to good homes like yours, of course!
As an incentive, we decided to offer 25% off the listed price of any animal currently for sale for an asking price of over $1000. You can buy one, two or six alpacas, no matter: we will be giving a 25% discount on all animal contracts signed between April 1, 2008 and September 30, 2008, on animals with a listing price of over $1000. Financing terms may be available, so please don't hesitate to make an offer and discuss your needs and preferences. As far as we are able, we aim to please!
We also offer to pay transport charges for the first 250 miles on any alpacas you purchase, this time including our pet and fiber animals.
